Mark 9:14-16 (NLT)

14 At the foot of the mountain they found a great crowd surrounding the other disciples, as some teachers of religious law were arguing with them. 15 The crowd watched Jesus in awe as he came toward them, and then they ran to greet him. 16 "What is all this arguing about?" he asked.

I am reading through the bible and I am in the book of Mark right now. As I was reading here in chapter 9, I noticed something interesting.
At the beginning of the chapter it tells of the transfiguration of Jesus, with Peter, James, and John witnessing this transfiguration.
But when you get to verse 14 we notice where the other nine disciples are, they are at the foot of the mountain.

Sometimes we wonder why people are blessed and others are not.
The truth is we are all blessed big time every once in a while, meaning we are blessed more then we usually are.
But when you are not experiencing one of these great blessings from the Lord and know others that are we wonder why them and not us.
Simply put, some are on the mountaintop getting blessed, why others are down at the foot of the mountain working.
You may be one of those who are at the foot of the mountain right now doing the Lord's work.
But we will all witness these mountaintop experiences.
The other disciples did, because they all (except for Judas who betrayed Jesus) saw Jesus in His transfigured state after he rose from the dead.

  • Luke 24:36-37 36 Now as they said these things, Jesus Himself stood in the midst of them, and said to them, "Peace to you." 37 But they were terrified and frightened, and supposed they had seen a spirit.

  • So whether you are on the mountaintop or at the foot of the mountain right now, remember we will all one day experience the same things as the disciples did, and that's to see our Lord and Savior, Jesus, in all His glory in heaven.
