2 Cor 5:10

For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, that each one may receive the things done in the body, according to what he has done, whether good or bad.

My wife and baby girl love vegetables, and when I read this I just had to laugh.

Two Christians have lived very good, and also very healthy lives. They die, and go to heaven.

As they are walking along, marveling at the paradise around them, one turns to the other and says "Wow. I never knew heaven was going to be as good as this!"

"Yeah" , says the other. "And just think, if we hadn't eaten all that oat bran we could have got here ten years sooner."

Me on the other hand do not like many vegetables at all. I just never acquired a taste for them.
But still we must be careful because as today's devotional verse says we will all be judged according to the things done in the body.
This is not really talking about taking care of our physical bodies. But rather what we do here on this earth while we are in these physical bodies.
The good news is we wont have them for all eternity.

  • 1 Cor 15:51 Behold, I tell you a mystery: We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed.

  • (Note: this is a great verse to put over the nursery in your church)

We will all have new bodies in heaven.
But we should still take care of our bodies, unlike this joke which stated that they could have gotten to heaven earlier if they hadn't take good care of their bodies.
So why would we want to stay here any longer then we have to?
    To share Jesus with others.

One of my favorite sayings is:

There is one thing better then going to heaven, and that's taking someone with you.
There is one thing worse then going to hell, and that's taking someone with you.

If you take good care of your body, just think of how many more you could take to heaven with you!
