with God
1 Cor 12:6 (NLT)
There are different ways God works in our lives, but it is the same God who does the work through all of us.
My wife and me are the same, but different.
We both love the Lord. We both love our children and we both love going to church.
But on the other hand, my wife has the gift of giving. She will give and give until there is nothing more to give, and then go find some more so she can give it away.
Me, I am a teacher of God's word. I could teach and teach until I can't teach anymore, then I will look for another way so I can teach again.
Sometimes we don't understand each other's gift and she wonders why I don't give more to others, and I wonder why she doesn't teach others.
The very simple answer is that we are not gifted with each other's gift.
Suppose I gave one person eggs, flour, milk, and some sugar.
To another I gave them a New York Steaks and some potatoes.
Would you expect the first person to make steak and baked potatoes for someone?
Would you expect the second to make a cake for someone with his or her ingredients?
Of course not, the person with the eggs, flour, milk, and sugar has the ability to make a cake, that's why they were given what they were.
The second person with the New York Steaks and potatoes were given this to make steak and baked potatoes for others.
Both are good and they both would satisfy a person's need.
It's the same way with our gifts from the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit has given us each special ingredients so we can minister to others in our own way.
So don't get down on someone because they don't do the same things you do. Also don't get down on them because they don't understand why you do what you do, or the way you do it.
Just use what God has given you to minister to others, and let the others use what God has given them so that they can minister to others also!
Also the combination of our gifts would cause others to have a feast. Steak, baked potatoes and cake for dessert.
