with God

Rev 1:5

and from Jesus Christ, the faithful witness, the firstborn from the dead, and the ruler over the kings of the earth. To Him who loved us and washed us from our sins in His own blood,

One of the very first Veggie Tales videos has Larry the Cucumber saying this about God and how God created all the stars in the sky.
"God just went pfffffft and there they were."
I know this doesn't do the video justice, but the idea was that God just spit out into space and the stars were just there.
But when God created man, it was a little more then a spit, but rather God spoke and man was created.

  • Gen 1:26 Then God said, "Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth."

  • For God to speak man into existence was a piece of cake for God. After all He is God and He spoke all things into existence.

  • Psalms 33:6 By the word of the LORD the heavens were made, and all the host of them by the breath of His mouth.

  • But did you realize that to redeem you, God had to do something harder then just speak. God had to bleed.
We always think of God as God, kind of like we did with our parents when we where kids. We thought that nothing could hurt them and that they were superman and wonder woman. But then something happened and your dad or mom cut themselves on a knife or fell and skinned their knee and for the first time we saw that that could be hurt and that they bleed just like we do.

But we shouldn't think of God in this way, He still is superman times one hundred trillion and on to infinity.
Yes God is God, but because of His love for you, He spoke and you are here right now on this earth; and because God loves you, God had to do something He had never done before in all of eternity, and that was bleed!

To create you, God just had to speak.
But to redeem you God had to bleed!
