5 Minutes a day / 5 Days a week

with God

1 Cor 12:23

And those members of the body which we think to be less honorable, on these we bestow greater honor; and our unpresentable parts have greater modesty,

Just because you put gas in a car does not make you an auto mechanic.
If you put a band-aid on a child's boo-boo doesn't make you a brain surgeon.
And if you put a CD in your CD player you are not a musician.

I know these don't sound like words of encouragement but by the time you read through this devotional I pray you will be encouraged.
You see we all have a desire to do great things for the Lord. And if these desires are to bring glory to the Lord then it's not a bad thing.
But we cannot allow these desires to overwhelm us to the point that we are not doing what God wants us to do.
Sure, it may seem that others have great ministries and your dreams are to one day have a great ministry too. But God has given us all gifts through the Holy Spirit to minister to others.
Some He has given a remote controlled car to, while others He has given the batteries. You may think that the one with the car has the greater gift, but without the batteries this car is worthless, just something to look at as it sits on a shelf.
It takes your batteries to make this car work properly.
So next time you think your gift is not that important, remember, without your batteries, or words of encouragement, or giving or prayers or whatever the Lord has given you; the ministries would be nothing more then something that looks good sitting on the shelf.

So go ahead and fix that boo-boo, the child doesn't need a brain surgeon, just your love.
Put in that CD of worship music, people don't need to go see a musician to worship the Lord.
And put the gas in your car, it will get your kids to school or soccer practice and you to work or church.
Finally go ahead and give, or pray or pick up the trash at your church. Whatever you do, remember that you may be the batteries that help a ministry run smoothly.
