Luke 2:17-18

17 Now when they had seen Him, they made widely known the saying which was told them concerning this Child. 18 And all those who heard it marveled at those things which were told them by the shepherds.

Merry Christmas!
I don't know if any of you will be on the computer today and reading this devotional.
It may even be the day after Christmas.
But for weeks now we have heard and read about Jesus and His birth on Christmas day.
We have seen plays, heard about it in church, read it in Christmas cards, listened to it in songs, and hopefully you have even read it yourself from the bible.
If you have, one of the last things you may not remember reading was today's devotional verses.
Sometimes people will not read this far and will stop at:

  • Luke 2:16 And they came with haste and found Mary and Joseph, and the Babe lying in a manger.

  • But that's not the end of the story; it actually ends with verse 20.

But our instructions on what to do about Christmas are in verses 17-18, read it again.

17 Now when they had seen Him, they made widely known the saying which was told them concerning this Child. 18 And all those who heard it marveled at those things which were told them by the shepherds.

The shepherds went out and told others about Jesus whom they were just with. They may have even had the privilege of holding baby Jesus.

So you have heard the story, seen it in TV, listened to and sung the songs, and heard about it at church. Now what, will you just leave Jesus lying there in the manger until next Christmas, or will you be like the shepherds and go and tell others about this gift from God to the world?

  • Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

  • The gift is opened and given to you. Will you now share it with others?
