Matt 3:16-17

16 When He had been baptized, Jesus came up immediately from the water; and behold, the heavens were opened to Him, and He saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and alighting upon Him. 17 And suddenly a voice came from heaven, saying, "This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased."

"If I just do this or that, then the Lord would love me more or God would be more pleased with me."

Have you ever said or thought that to yourself?
Think about this verse and when it happened. Jesus had not started His ministry yet, no one was healed, no blind eyes were open, no one was raised from the dead, 500 were not yet feed and Jesus did no teaching.
But even though Jesus had not started His ministry, God still said this about Him, "This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased."

You see God loves us for who we are, not what we do.
So no matter how much money you give, or how many you tell about Jesus, or what you do for those in need, before you did or do any of it, God is pleased with you. Why, because you love Him and believe in His Son Jesus!

So go ahead and do for the Lord, but don't expect Him to love you more because you do, but realize how much God loves you now, and may that be the motive for what you do for God.
