Rev 14:2-3a
2 And I heard a voice from heaven, like the voice of many waters, and like the voice of loud thunder. And I heard the sound of harpists playing their harps. 3 They sang as it were a new song before the throne,
I love listening to Christian music. There are so many good, God loving, Holy Spirit filled Christians singing good songs.
But you know what? As a Christian I am looking for something different.
What do I mean?
Even though I like a lot of today's Christian music, a lot of it sounds like any other music, the only real difference are the words.
The words teach and encourage others to follow the Lord, which is a good thing. But still I am looking for something more.
You see, if we as Christians imitate the sounds and beats of the world, then we are imitating the music of satan.
There are some very talented musicians in the world that play really good music, only a lot of it does not glorify the Lord but rather glorifies the sins that Jesus died for.
But I'm still looking for more!
"Ok Steve you said that over and over, what are you looking for?"
You see if we imitate the sounds and beats of the world, then we are offering the best that satan can offer by imitating his music and offering it to the Lord.
I want to put a challenge out to Christian musicians not to imitate the world, don't be conformed to this world to please the world. After all who are you playing for, the world or for the Lord?
I want to challenge all Christian's musicians to stop and take time seeking the Lord and asking Him for a new sound, not one that imitates the world but a new sound that is pleasing to the Lord.
There are some out there that already have done this. I will not be a namedropper, but you know them by their sounds, which is totally different, not wanting to conform to this world's idea of music. Some of them are very famous bands and one reason is because they refuse to follow after the world and the so-called mainstream of music.
The offer all they have and play to the Lord, not caring if you or I are happy with their songs, because they're not for us, they are for the Lord.
Today sing a new song before the throne of God. Don't worry about who likes it or doesn't. Seek to be pleasing to the Lord.
Col 1:10 that you may walk worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing Him, being fruitful in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God;
