Matt 25:23
"His lord said to him, 'Well done, good and faithful servant; you have been faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things. Enter into the joy of your lord.'
I have so many things that I desire to do for the Lord.
I could go on and on with what they are, but the truth is, God never said to do a lot of different things, but to just be faithful in the thing(s) He has given you to do.
Maybe you are like me and come up with all these different ideas of things to do for the Lord. But the question is, how many of them have you actually done, or is there even one you have been faithful in.
We want to keep busy all the time; afterwards, "idle hands are the work of the devil".
Actually the bible does not say this, but it does say.
Prov 19:15 Laziness casts one into a deep sleep, and an idle person will suffer hunger.
We even get overloaded in our doing that we start many projects for the Lord but finish none of them.
Sometimes we need to stop and rest in the Lord. But not because we are busy with a hundred different things, but because we need to stop trying to do everything and ask the Lord what he wants us to do, and let the other things go until He says it's time to do them.
So we should be faithful in the thing(s) the Lord has given us to do, not all the things we think we should be doing.
Read today's devotional verse again and then realize this: If you do one thing faithfully, you will receive a greater reward then if you did many things unfaithfully.
Heb 11:6 But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.
So if you want to really please God, do one thing faithfully, and don't try to do a hundred things that you know you wont be faithful in.
