with God
Psalms 22:6-10
6 But I am a worm, and no man;
A reproach of men, and despised by the people.
7 All those who see Me ridicule Me;
They shoot out the lip, they shake the head, saying,
8 "He trusted in the LORD, let Him rescue Him;
Let Him deliver Him, since He delights in Him!"
9 But You are He who took Me out of the womb;
You made Me trust while on My mother's breasts.
10 I was cast upon You from birth.
From My mother's womb
You have been My God.
Have you ever been working real hard, so much that you are sweating, and then you cut yourself and have the sweat drip into the cut?
Talk about stinging, it's what we could call "pouring salt into the wound."
That's just what others are doing here in this Psalm as Jesus was hanging on the cross.
Let's look at these words from Matthew being spoken to Jesus as He is on the cross paying the price for our sins, for even the sins of these people who are mocking Him.
Matt 27:39-44 39 And those who passed by blasphemed Him, wagging their heads 40 and saying, "You who destroy the temple and build it in three days, save Yourself! If You are the Son of God, come down from the cross." 41 Likewise the chief priests also, mocking with the scribes and elders, said, 42 "He saved others; Himself He cannot save. If He is the King of Israel, let Him now come down from the cross, and we will believe Him. 43 "He trusted in God; let Him deliver Him now if He will have Him; for He said, 'I am the Son of God.' " 44 Even the robbers who were crucified with Him reviled Him with the same thing.
Did you notice something here in verse 44? The robbers who were crucified next to Jesus were doing the same thing also.
But the exciting thing about this is what happens later on with the two robbers hanging next to Jesus.
Luke 23:39-43 39 Then one of the criminals who were hanged blasphemed Him, saying, "If You are the Christ, save Yourself and us." 40 But the other, answering, rebuked him, saying, "Do you not even fear God, seeing you are under the same condemnation? 41 "And we indeed justly, for we receive the due reward of our deeds; but this Man has done nothing wrong." 42 Then he said to Jesus, "Lord, remember me when You come into Your kingdom." 43 And Jesus said to him, "Assuredly, I say to you, today you will be with Me in Paradise."
This same robber was just cursing Jesus, but was now seeking His forgiveness. And you know what? Jesus did forgive him.
Today that may be exciting news for you.
We always think, "Jesus will never accept someone like me because I am too much of a sinner." Jesus is telling you right now that no matter how much you have cursed Him and hated Him and no matter what you have done that He is willing to forgive you right now.
Why wait till church on Sunday, why not accept that forgiveness right now?
All you have to do is ask, just like the robber did. Here it is in Jesus' own words speaking to you today.
John 6:37 "All that the Father gives Me will come to Me, and the one who comes to Me I will by no means cast out.
Jesus' trust was in God as we see in verses 9 & 10 in today's Psalm.
Wont you put your trust in Jesus today? He will accept you.
You have His word on it!
