1 John 2:18-23
18 Little children, it is the last hour; and as you have heard that the Antichrist is coming, even now many antichrists have come, by which we know that it is the last hour. 19 They went out from us, but they were not of us; for if they had been of us, they would have continued with us; but they went out that they might be made manifest, that none of them were of us. 20 But you have an anointing from the Holy One, and you know all things. 21 I have not written to you because you do not know the truth, but because you know it, and that no lie is of the truth. 22 Who is a liar but he who denies that Jesus is the Christ? He is antichrist who denies the Father and the Son. 23 Whoever denies the Son does not have the Father either; he who acknowledges the Son has the Father also.
John wrote this almost 2000 years ago. John was saying that in his time that the world was in its last hour.
Today, almost 2000 years later, I believe we are in the last seconds of Jesus Christ's return for His church.
John also wrote about antichrists that had come into the world and are even here today. This is not the antichrist (But it's very possible that he is alive right at this moment). An antichrist is someone who has heard the truth but doesn't believe in Jesus Christ as the true messiah. These people left the church or follow a false religion to teach a lie.
How do you know who they are? Verse 22 tells us how.
22 Who is a liar but he who denies that Jesus is the Christ? He is antichrist who denies the Father and the Son.
There is one person who has been mentioned everyday in the news that is an antichrist. Now this is not the antichrist but he is an example of what the antichrist will represent.
That is Ben Laden. We have heard his name over and over in the news. But He does not believe that Jesus Christ is the Messiah sent by God to save the world. And you may look down on him for this, but the sad thing is that there are many who live in the USA and throughout the world who share this same belief. These are red-blooded Americans who were born here and their family could be traced back to the start of the USA. These are not terrorist, but regular people, who live next door to you, work with you and shop at the same stores as you do.
But scripture makes it clear that anyone who denies that Jesus is Lord and that He is God come in the flesh to pay for the sins of the world is an antichrist.
Maybe you never thought of yourself as an antichrist, but just someone who didn't believe in Jesus.
I pray if you are reading this that you are a Christian and no longer have the spirit of antichrist.
But if you or your friends do not believe then scripture says clearly that you are.
You have read it for yourself in today's devotional verse.
If you don't want to be an antichrist or you don't want your friends to be, then share Jesus with them, read them these verses and show them what the bible says about someone who doesn't believe.
If this person is you and you don't want to be an antichrist, there is still hope for you, just as there was for hundreds of thousands of Christians who at one time believed like you do.
The hope is in Jesus Christ. Just believe in your heart and confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and you to will be saved.
Romans 10:9-11 that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. For the Scripture says, "Whoever believes on Him will not be put to shame."
Just pray this prayer from your heart and believe it's true!
Jesus, I admit I am a sinner. I believe You died on the cross for my sins and rose from the dead on the third day. Please forgive me for my sins. Thank You for forgiving me. Please fill me with Your Holy Spirit and may I share what You did with others. I ask this in Your name Jesus. AMEN!
If you just prayed this prayer and believe it in your heart, you are now a Christian. Welcome to the family of God. Now go tell someone what you did, start reading your bible, and find a good Christian church to go to.
May God bless all of you in your walk with Jesus Christ!
