with God

Josh 24:15-16 & 19-23 (NLT)

15 But if you are unwilling to serve the LORD, then choose today whom you will serve. Would you prefer the gods your ancestors served beyond the Euphrates? Or will it be the gods of the Amorites in whose land you now live? But as for me and my family, we will serve the LORD."
16 The people replied, "We would never forsake the LORD and worship other gods.

19 Then Joshua said to the people, "You are not able to serve the LORD, for he is a holy and jealous God. He will not forgive your rebellion and sins. 20 If you forsake the LORD and serve other gods, he will turn against you and destroy you, even though he has been so good to you."

21 But the people answered Joshua, saying, "No, we are determined to serve the LORD!"

22 "You are accountable for this decision," Joshua said. "You have chosen to serve the LORD."
"Yes," they replied, "we are accountable."

23 "All right then," Joshua said, "destroy the idols among you, and turn your hearts to the LORD, the God of Israel."

"As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord"
This is a very popular verse. People have it on plaques hanging in their homes and on doormats at their front door.

A few days ago, president Bush spoke to the nations of the world and ask them to make a choice of whose side they are on, with most nations stating they are against terrorism, and take sides with the USA.

But I believe that God is saying to the USA to choose this day whom we will serve. Either the gods of false religion, or the God of Abraham, Isaac, Jacob and the God of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
During the time of the nation praying there was a person praying with our leaders to God, Jesus and Muhammad.
This country was founded on God, the only true God of the bible. But we have allowed other religions to creep in and have their way in the USA.

As I am writing this there are reports of people attacking those who are Muslim or look to be from the Middle East.
Let me make this very clear, DO NOT do this.
Jesus died for all sins, including the sins of those who currently practice false religions. They still have the choice to turn to Jesus or not, it is not up to us to judge them and sentence them to death.

But we do need to come back to God and Jesus as a nation. As we do these false religions will fade away, because the Love and Light of Jesus will chase them away, not people.

So today, whom will you serve?

23 "All right then," Joshua said, "destroy the idols among you, and turn your hearts to the LORD, the God of Israel."

This means to destroy the things in your house and in your life that are not of God.
How do you know what those things are?
The example I like to give is, if the church was raptured and you where taken to heaven, what would those left behind find in your house or office at work.
The same would happen if you were to die today, what would your family find in your house or office?
Would you be ashamed at what they would find?
If yes, then those are the things you need to get rid of.
If you can't then:

15a But if you are unwilling to serve the LORD, then choose today whom you will serve.
