with God

Eph 5:1

Therefore be imitators of God as dear children.

I remember as a young boy, when my dad would be out front cutting the grass with his power lawnmower. As a small boy, I would follow right behind him with my toy lawn mower in the track that was made with the lawn mower.
I wanted to be just like my dad. Big and strong, dependable, someone I knew as a small boy I could trust and I knew he would always take care of me.
I wasn't a spoiled child, but my dad always took care of me.

This is just an example of how we should imitate God just as today's verse says.
But in order to imitate God, you first must think of whom you are imitating.

Are you the sort of person who thinks of him or her self?
Do you push others aside to get what you want?
Do you desire what others have?
Do you want to change your appearance?

Think about the things you are currently doing and ask yourself, does God do this?
If the answer is no, then you are not being an imitator God.

But on the other hand, if you desire to help others with wanting nothing in return, or you go out of your way for others, regardless of what it costs you. Maybe you just love to give to others, or maybe you are just happy with who you are because you know God created you to look just the way you are. Then you are being an imitator of God.

So pay attention to yourself this week and think of the things you do, then ask yourself.
Would God do this?
