Romans 10:1

Brethren, my heart's desire and prayer to God for Israel is that they may be saved.

If you have watched the news at all the last months you have heard of Israel and the Palestinians warring and fighting. In fact killing each other.

But as a Christian, and even though I have never been to Israel, I have a heart for the people of Israel.
Studying the bible I realize that they are God's chosen people.

  • Deut 14:2 "For you are a holy people to the LORD your God, and the LORD has chosen you to be a people for Himself, a special treasure above all the peoples who are on the face of the earth.

  • Even though they are not a big country, in fact it's rather small, God has chosen them from the beginning to be His people.

  • Deut 7:7-8 7 "The LORD did not set His love on you nor choose you because you were more in number than any other people, for you were the least of all peoples; 8 "but because the LORD loves you, and because He would keep the oath which He swore to your fathers, the LORD has brought you out with a mighty hand, and redeemed you from the house of bondage, from the hand of Pharaoh king of Egypt.

  • If you have been going through the study on Genesis you can see God bringing this all together, starting with Abraham.
So what does all of this have to do with today's devotional verse?
Just as Paul was writing to the Romans about his heart for Israel, I also write to you about your heart for Israel.
Maybe you have never thought about them, but every time you hear of Israel, there is a little excitement in your heart.
This is having the heart of God and for His chosen people.
So what do you do about it?
Pray, pray for the peace of Jerusalem.

  • Psalms 122:6 Pray for the peace of Jerusalem: "May they prosper who love you.

  • Pray that they will believe in Jesus Christ the Messiah and be saved.

  • Romans 10:1 Brethren, my heart's desire and prayer to God for Israel is that they may be saved.

  • These are two things I pray for everyday.
Why? Because the Holy Spirit urges me to pray for God's chosen people, and I pray that the Holy Spirit will urge you to pray for them daily also!
