with God

Gal 1:13-15 (NLT)

13 You know what I was like when I followed the Jewish religion--how I violently persecuted the Christians. I did my best to get rid of them. 14 I was one of the most religious Jews of my own age, and I tried as hard as possible to follow all the old traditions of my religion.

15 But then something happened! For it pleased God in his kindness to choose me and call me, even before I was born! What undeserved mercy!

Before I accepted Jesus as my Lord and Savior, I used to cuss a lot. I would make sailors blush with the words I would use and how often I used them.
But when I accepted Jesus as my Lord and Savior, all of that changed immediately, that very same day.
The next day after Jesus saved me I counted only four times that I cussed that day. Today everyone knows that I don't cuss at all, why because Jesus changed me, it wasn't something I could do on my own. It was and is a miracle of God in my life.
I am a living example of today's devotional verse,

But then something happened! For it pleased God in his kindness to choose me and call me, even before I was born! What undeserved mercy!

I will admit that there are things that I still struggle with and God is working them out in His time and in His way. It gets discouraging sometimes because we as Christians don't want to sin and we feel terrible when we do. But then I have to think back on what I used to be and how far God has brought me. I'm still far from perfect, but I'm heading in that direction.

What about you? Do others remember what you used to be like and do others see a change in your life?
If they don't, then you may want to stop and look at the way you are living and why you are still living like you used to.

  • 2 Cor 5:17 (NLT) What this means is that those who become Christians become new persons. They are not the same anymore, for the old life is gone. A new life has begun!

  • Don't get discouraged if everything hasn't changed, but if nothing has changed, then ask the Lord why, there may be things you think are OK but are not. Allow the Lord to show you what they are and then ask for His strength to change them.
The best way to see what these things are is to read God's word everyday.

  • James 1:23-25 (NLT) 23 For if you just listen and don't obey, it is like looking at your face in a mirror but doing nothing to improve your appearance. 24 You see yourself, walk away, and forget what you look like. 25 But if you keep looking steadily into God's perfect law--the law that sets you free--and if you do what it says and don't forget what you heard, then God will bless you for doing it.
