with God

John 13:7

Jesus answered and said to him, "What I am doing you do not understand now, but you will know after this."

How many times have you asked God "what is going on here?"
You have been confused and not understanding why things are happening in your life as they are, maybe even right now today?

In today's devotional verse, Jesus is washing the disciples feet, and Peter says to Jesus.

  • John 13:6 (NLT) When he came to Simon Peter, Peter said to him, "Lord, why are you going to wash my feet?"

  • With today's verse being Jesus' response to Peter.
Peter didn't understand at the time that Jesus was teaching them how to be servants.
I know personally I have gone through times when I wondered what God was doing or why He was allowing certain things to happen in my life.
Some things I do understand why now, but others I still don't understand. I know this may not be comforting to you if you are struggling right now.
But even though I don't understand all things God is doing in my life, I know that God is in control, and if God is in control then He knows what He's doing!

  • Isaiah 55:8-9 8 "For My thoughts are not your thoughts, Nor are your ways My ways," says the LORD.9 "For as the heavens are higher than the earth, So are My ways higher than your ways, And My thoughts than your thoughts.

  • I know I have used this verse over and over throughout the devotionals and studies, but it is a very special verse to me. I know of times when things were going great and then all of a sudden it seemed like someone pulled the carpet right from under my feet, and I fell flat on my face, or at least it felt like it.
But God has ALWAYS been there for me, giving me comfort when I need it, and teaching me when I needed to be taught.
This next verse is so special to me because I was going through a very, very, tough time after I had returned to the Lord. Things were going great, then all of a sudden it seemed God had forgotten about me. I cried out (Literally) to God, and He heard me and answered me in a special way with this verse.

  • Isaiah 41:10 10 Fear not, for I am with you; Be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, Yes, I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.'

  • So take this verse, write it down, memorize it, then memorize it again and know that God is with you and:

  • For He Himself has said, "I will never leave you nor forsake you." Heb 13:5b

  • These are God's words not mine, Do you believe Him?
