Prov 4:25-27 (NLT)

25 Look straight ahead, and fix your eyes on what lies before you. 26 Mark out a straight path for your feet; then stick to the path and stay safe. 27 Don't get sidetracked; keep your feet from following evil.

Have you ever noticed when you drive on a mountain road, with all its curves and sharp corners, how much longer it takes to get there then it would on a nice straight highway?
Or what about a Sunday drive when you just look around enjoying the view but not really seeing what lies ahead of you. When you do this, sometimes you have to hit your breaks to stop from hitting another car.
These are the type of things we do a Christians. We just get so comfortable with our walk with God that we forget to look ahead to where we are really heading (Heaven) and run into brick walls.
Or sometimes we take the mountain road that seems like a long and windy, slow process.
And how do we get on this windy road?
We are like the children of Israel who sinned against God, and because they did, it took them 40 years to make a 3-day journey.
Does your journey seem like it's been a long one lately, like you're just running around in circles getting nowhere?
Look at today's devotional in verses 26 & 27 again:

"Mark out a straight path for your feet; then stick to the path and stay safe. Don't get sidetracked; keep your feet from following evil."

Have you marked a straight path? Possible you did when you accepted Jesus, but you've forgotten that path, and have strayed and are now taking the windy road, trying to take Jesus with you.

Jesus talked about this in the book of Revelation:

  • Rev 3:15-16 15 "I know your works, that you are neither cold nor hot. I could wish you were cold or hot. 16 "So then, because you are lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will vomit you out of My mouth.

  • What an awful place to be in, and how do you get there? By compromising with your walk with God.
Do you act like a Christian around other Christians, but act like the world around non-Christians? If you do then this is that long and windy road that you are on.
So how do you get off this windy road and back on track?
In the NKJV it says in verse 26:

"Ponder the path of your feet, And let all your ways be established."

Think about the path you decided to take when you accepted Jesus as your Lord and Savior. Didn't you give Him your whole life back then, but maybe you have taken it back or at least part of it.
Right now where you sit, ask Jesus to forgive you and give your whole life back to Him. Then stay right on that straight and narrow road that leads to Jesus.
I won't promise you sun shine the whole way, but then it won't matter, because you'll have someone to talk to through the whole trip, Jesus!
And maybe you can take others with you, how about those non-Christian friends who you have been acting like? Show them Jesus and invite them to walk this new path with you.
