John 8:58

Jesus said to them, "Most assuredly, I say to you, before Abraham was, I AM."

There are religions that say that Jesus is not God. They will say that Jesus was just a man or a prophet.
Some will say that He was a created being but not God. Some even go as far as saying that Jesus and satan where brothers.

Those who teach these things are teaching a false christ and not the true Jesus of the bible.

Gal 1:8-10 8 But even if we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel to you than what we have preached to you, let him be accursed. 9 As we have said before, so now I say again, if anyone preaches any other gospel to you than what you have received, let him be accursed. 10 For do I now persuade men, or God? Or do I seek to please men? For if I still pleased men, I would not be a bondservant of Christ.

So where does Jesus say that He's God in the bible? There are many places and one of them is right here in today's verse.
Jesus said that He was "I AM" . Have you ever heard God say this of Himself before?
He did and it was to Moses back in the book of Exodus.

Ex 3:14 And God said to Moses, "I AM WHO I AM." And He said, "Thus you shall say to the children of Israel, 'I AM has sent me to you.' "

Today's verse is very clear that Jesus is saying He is God, even the rulers of that day knew exactly what Jesus was saying and who He was claiming to be.
That's why they took up stones to stone Jesus because He made himself to be God.

John 8:59 Then they took up stones to throw at Him; but Jesus hid Himself and went out of the temple, going through the midst of them, and so passed by.

So what does this have to do with us today?
Well maybe you have been taught, or teach a false Jesus, to name a few of the religions would be, the Mormons and Jehovah Witnesses.

Maybe you belong to one of these groups and don't believe you are taught this; if you think I am wrong then ask your priest or an elder in your church what they believe.

Then don't take my word or even the word of your pastor or elder in your church, but search the scriptures and find out the truth for yourself.
After all, when you are before God, you will have no one next to you answering why you believed in a false christ.

Matt 24:24-25 24 "For false christs and false prophets will rise and show great signs and wonders to deceive, if possible, even the elect.
25 "See, I have told you beforehand.
