with God
Acts 1:8
"But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth."
Have you ever been to court or at least seen a court case on TV, whether it was real or not?
Well if you have, then you know that witnesses are called and questioned about what they saw and these witnesses tell the truth of what they saw or at least know.
Jesus has called us to be a witness for him. That doesn't mean you have to be smart like a lawyer, just be able to tell about what you know.
A lot of times Christians are afraid to go out and witness because they don't feel like they know the bible enough.
If you are one of those, today I want you to rest assured that you don't have to be a bible scholar.
Listen to what Jesus said again.
The Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me
Jesus didn't say you have to read through the bible, go to seminary (bible school), and serve 100 hours in the church before you could be a witness for Him.
No, He said that He would fill you with the Holy Spirit and you will be a witness.
What's a witness again? It's one who tells about what they saw or know.
You can do that can't you?
You can tell others about what Jesus has done in your life.
If you still don't think that you can or know how too. I would encourage you to read John chapter 10. It's one of my favorite chapters in the bible.
It is about a blind man who Jesus heals, and this man is questioned over and over about what happened. And all he could do is tell what happened in his life. Simply put he would say.
John 9:11 He answered and said, "A Man called Jesus made clay and anointed my eyes and said to me, 'Go to the pool of Siloam and wash.' So I went and washed, and I received sight."
One simple sentence of what Jesus did in his life.
You don't have to ramble on, just tell them what Jesus did in your life, it's that simple.
And if you are worried about knowing scripture read in this same chapter this unlearned man's closing words.
John 9:30-33 30 The man answered and said to them, "Why, this is a marvelous thing, that you do not know where He is from; yet He has opened my eyes! 31 "Now we know that God does not hear sinners; but if anyone is a worshiper of God and does His will, He hears him. 32 "Since the world began it has been unheard of that anyone opened the eyes of one who was born blind. 33 "If this Man were not from God, He could do nothing."
These were not his own words but the Holy Spirit gave him these words, and the Holy Spirit will do the same for you too.
One last thing, in order to be a witness, you have to open your mouth and talk.
Matt 5:2 Then He opened His mouth and taught them, saying:
Acts 8:35 Then Philip opened his mouth, and beginning at this Scripture, preached Jesus to him.
Acts 10:34 Then Peter opened his mouth and said: "In truth I perceive that God shows no partiality.
