5 Minutes a day / 5 Days a week

with God

Psalms 139:17-18

17 How precious also are Your thoughts to me, O God!
How great is the sum of them!
18 If I should count them, they would be more in number than the sand;
When I awake, I am still with You.

Have you ever been to the beach and picked up a hand full of sand? Do you know how many grains of sand where in your hand at that time?
Maybe you tried to count them, but became overwhelmed knowing it seemed simply impossible to count the number of grains in your hand.
So what did you do? You dump out the sand from your hand and wipe your hands together to get rid of any remaining sand.
But then you look and still see sand stuck there on your hands, but the number seems more reasonable to count, so you start to count these instead.
But once again you become overwhelmed because even with this seemingly small amount of sand on your hands, once again they seem to be to many to count. So you just say forget it and continue with your fun at the beach.

You could do the same thing with the number of times God thinks about you. You could become overwhelmed with the amount of times God thinks about you. Just like with the example of sand, you could wipe your hands and forget about it, or you could look at the number of times God does think about you and just be in awe of how much God really loves you.

So how many times does God think about you? Only every time you take a breath.

  • Acts 17:24-25 24 "God, who made the world and everything in it, since He is Lord of heaven and earth, does not dwell in temples made with hands. 25 "Nor is He worshiped with men's hands, as though He needed anything, since He gives to all life, breath, and all things.

  • Maybe today you are feeling like the Lord has forgotten about you. Well. If you haven't stopped breathing, then He hasn't forgotten about you.
But even if you did stop breathing (But then you wouldn't be reading this) He would still think about you.

  • Psalms 139:8 If I ascend into heaven, You are there; If I make my bed in hell, behold, You are there

  • God has not forgotten about you. Remember our study in Genesis where Abraham and Sarah had a promise from God for a son.
But they thought God might have forgotten His promise, so they took things into their own hands. But God didn't forget and He did fulfill His promise to them of a son.
God has not forgotten about you either.
The lies of Satan are that God has forgotten you, and that He has better things to do then to be concerned with your little problem

But to God it's not a little problem. It may not seem as important as Jesus raising Lazarus from the dead, or God parting the Red Sea.
But to God all things are just as important to Him. Why, Because He loves you just as Jesus loved Lazarus, or God loves Israel.
They were created by God and so are you. You are the work of God's hands. Just because you or others don't think you're that important, God does, and He made you just the way you are, because that's just the way He wants you!

And next time you think God has forgotten about you. Go to the beach and pick up a handful of sand, and start counting.
