Zech 13:6(NLT)

And if someone asks, 'Then what are those scars on your chest?' he will say, 'I was wounded at the home of friends!'

Have you ever been betrayed or hurt by a close friend? Talk about pain, there is more pain in this then any physical torture you could imagine.

Today's verse is speaking of Jesus, and the words scars on your chest means "Scars between Your hands" speaking of the scars Jesus even now bares as the nails where driven into His wrists.
It is said by medical doctors that there is a nerve in the wrist that if it is hit just right will bring you the most excruciating pain you could ever imagine.
But you say that scripture says that Jesus had the nails driven through His hands, not the wrists.
You are correct, but the meaning of hands is, the portion from the tip of the fingers to the wrists.
It is also noted by doctors that if you were crucified and had the nails driven through your hands, the weight of your body would ripe the nail through the palm of your hands and you would fall. But if it is driven through the wrist then there are bones strong enough to hold you there.

So why am I telling you all of this? We know that the nails were driven through Jesus' wrist, and with Satan behind the torture of Jesus, I'm sure he made sure that very nerve I was talking about was hit in each wrist. That would me total pain not only in Jesus' wrists but the pain would be felt throughout the whole body.

But this was not the worst pain for Jesus. We read what His worst pain was in today's scripture.

'I was wounded at the home of friends!'

Jesus, the creator of the heavens and the earth, the creator of all things; they rejected Jesus who came down to be with His creation.

I was 19 when I accepted Jesus as my Lord and Savior, but for 19 years I rejected His love for me.
How many years have you been rejecting Jesus? 15, 20, 30 years or maybe even longer?

Maybe you are no longer rejecting Jesus, but what about your friends or family? Do they still reject Him?
Do you accept their rejection of Jesus?
How, by not telling them about Jesus' love for them.

Think of your best friend here in this world, how do you feel when someone rejects or makes fun of him or her?

  • John 15:14-15 14 "You are My friends if you do whatever I command you. 15 "No longer do I call you servants, for a servant does not know what his master is doing; but I have called you friends, for all things that I heard from My Father I have made known to you.

  • Jesus is not only your Lord and Savior, but He is your friend too.

You wouldn't let others reject, curse or make fun of your best friend in this world. Will you do the same for your best friend in heaven?
