James 2:10-11

10 For whoever shall keep the whole law, and yet stumble in one point, he is guilty of all. 11 For He who said, "Do not commit adultery," also said, "Do not murder." Now if you do not commit adultery, but you do murder, you have become a transgressor of the law.

Have you every gotten a ticket for going 70 or 75 mph on the freeway?
As you are getting the ticket your thinking,
  • "How come he didn't get that guy that passed me. He was going at least 85 mph?"

  • The law says that the speed limit is 65 mph on the freeway. So regardless if you are going 1 or 30 mph over the speed limit, you are just as guilty as the guy who was going 85 mph.

It's the same way with God's Law. If you tell a little white lie you are just as guilty as someone who committed murder, because you transgressed God's Law.

    The word for transgressed is
  • "lawbreaker"
  • .

Just like our example with going over the speed limit, you have no excuse for your breaking God's law. You did it and you got caught.

    But there is good news.
With a police officer, he can either give you a warning, or a ticket. We always hope for a warning, but we usually get a ticket.

With sin we hope God will forgive us so we can go to heaven, instead of not being forgiven and going to hell.

With the police you can ask him to forgive you but he will probably laugh in your face.
But with God, if you ask Him to forgive you, He won't laugh at you but God will forgive you.

  • 1 John 1:9-10 9 If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 10 If we say that we have not sinned, we make Him a liar, and His word is not in us.

  • Notice verse 10. You can't argue with the police officer, because you will just make him mad.
Don't try to argue with God and make excuses for your sins.
All God asks, is that you confess your sins to Him, and He WILL forgive you!
No more excuses or trying to get out of your sin. Confess them today to God and experience His forgiveness.

    Plus there's no traffic school.
