Gal 6:9 (NLT)
So don't get tired of doing what is good. Don't get discouraged and give up, for we will reap a harvest of blessing at the appropriate time.
Are you the type of person who likes to do for others?
Have you been feeling lately like no one appreciates what you do, whether in the church or at work or even at home?
We are told in today's devotional verse not to get discouraged, and why? Because we will receive our reward in the appropriate time.
So when is the appropriate time?
Matt 5:12a "Rejoice and be exceedingly glad, for great is your reward in heaven,
That's right, our reward we will receive in heaven.
"But I want one now." You may be saying.
Well you could receive one now, but then if you desire to receive the reward now, you may lose your reward in heaven.
Matt 6:1-2 1 "Take heed that you do not do your charitable deeds before men, to be seen by them. Otherwise you have no reward from your Father in heaven. 2 "Therefore, when you do a charitable deed, do not sound a trumpet before you as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may have glory from men. Assuredly, I say to you, they have their reward.
"So what will my reward be?" Well scripture does speak of crowns that we will receive.
1 Cor 9:25 And everyone who competes for the prize is temperate in all things. Now they do it to obtain a perishable crown, but we for an imperishable crown.
2 Tim 4:8 Finally, there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will give to me on that Day, and not to me only but also to all who have loved His appearing.
James 1:12 Blessed is the man who endures temptation; for when he has been approved, he will receive the crown of life which the Lord has promised to those who love Him.
But scripture also says what we will do with these crowns.
Rev 4:10-11 10 the twenty-four elders fall down before Him who sits on the throne and worship Him who lives forever and ever, and cast their crowns before the throne, saying:
11 "You are worthy, O Lord,
To receive glory and honor and power;
For You created all things,
And by Your will they exist and were created."
So don't get tired or discouraged with what you are doing, even if you never do receive a pat on the back or a thank you.
Your reward may be a crown or any other reward as the Lord sees fit for you. The important thing is that the Lord sees what you are doing, and He is the one who will give out the rewards in the end, not the person(s) you are doing it for.
Rev 22:12-13 12 "And behold, I am coming quickly, and My reward is with Me, to give to every one according to his work. 13 "I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End, the First and the Last."
