Mark 5:18-20

18 And when He got into the boat, he who had been demon-possessed begged Him that he might be with Him. 19 However, Jesus did not permit him, but said to him, "Go home to your friends, and tell them what great things the Lord has done for you, and how He has had compassion on you." 20 And he departed and began to proclaim in Decapolis all that Jesus had done for him; and all marveled


Have you ever wondered why, when you accept Jesus as your Lord and Savior, you are not taken to heaven immediately?
Even as Christians we desire the Lord to come back and take us home. Which is not a bad desire to have. After all, what better place to be, then in Heaven with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

But there is a reason why we are still here. And we see the reason as Jesus told to the man who was demon possessed.

  • "Go home to your friends, and tell them what great things the Lord has done for you, and how He has had compassion on you."


    • We are to do the same thing. Now you may not have been demon possessed like this man was, but still the Lord has done great things for you. He has forgiven you all your sins and you will someday be with Him in heaven for all eternity.

    But did you notice the response of the people this man told about Jesus?

  • "and all marveled."


    • So are you sharing the Jesus who saved you, who had compassion on you and cleansed you of all your sins, or are you sharing the Jesus the world knows about. You know, a little baby in a manger on a snowy December night.

    Yes Jesus was a baby in a manger, but it wasn't a snowy December night, and He was not a baby forever. No, Jesus grew to be our Lord and Savior who died on the cross for our sins. He is no longer in a manger or hanging on the cross. No, Jesus is right now at this moment at the right hand of the Father.

  • Mark 16:19 So then, after the Lord had spoken to them, He was received up into heaven, and sat down at the right hand of God.


    • So share the Jesus of the Bible, the Jesus who saved you, and had compassion on you. When you do, watch those around you marvel because He has done the same for them too.
    Just remember to tell them that also!
