with God

1 Peter 5:7-9 (NLT)

7 Give all your worries and cares to God, for he cares about what happens to you.

8 Be careful! Watch out for attacks from the Devil, your great enemy. He prowls around like a roaring lion, looking for some victim to devour. 9 Take a firm stand against him, and be strong in your faith. Remember that your Christian brothers and sisters all over the world are going through the same kind of suffering you are.

Isn't great to know that we can come to God at anytime and pour our hearts out to Him?
God is always there, waiting for you to share your life with Him, whether good times or bad.
But how often do you share your life with God? Only when things are going bad and you need His help?
I don't mean this in a bad or mean sense, but rather we need to stop and take a look at our lives, and how much of it we actually share with God.

Let's say you're married, and the only time your spouse talked to you are shared anything with you was when things are going bad, How would that make you feel?
What about your kids, what if they only came around and talked to you when they wanted something? Any other time the just ignored you as if you were not even there.
If you have given your life to Jesus, then give Him your whole life, not just the bad part.

We must also be on the lookout for Satan and his schemes, like todays verse says, he's like a lion, ready to eat up his victims.
Lions will look into a herd of antelope and study it, looking for the weakest one. Then when they spot it, their target is for that one weak antelope.
Satan does the same thing with Christians; he looks for the weak ones to turn away from God, so that he can devour them in his lies.

So how do you become stronger as a Christian?
There are a few ways; one, which I always tell you, is to be in God's word everyday. Second be in prayer everyday, and more then once a day to just to thank Him at dinnertime.
A third way has to do with what we were talking about in the beginning of todays devotional.
You see if you only come to God when things are bad, you are not a fully committed, strong Christian. But if you come to God all the time and share not only the bad times with Him, but the good times too, then you're a fully committed Christian, seeking God in all that you do.
And when you spend all the time with God, then it's hard for the lions of this world to get at you!

  • 2 Cor 12:9-10 (NLT) 9 Each time he said, "My gracious favor is all you need. My power works best in your weakness." So now I am glad to boast about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may work through me. 10 Since I know it is all for Christ's good, I am quite content with my weaknesses and with insults, hardships, persecutions, and calamities. For when I am weak, then I am strong.
