with God
Heb 10:22 (NLT)
let us go right into the presence of God, with true hearts fully trusting him. For our evil consciences have been sprinkled with Christ's blood to make us clean, and our bodies have been washed with pure water.
One night on the news they were talking about how the Hindu religious people were going by the thousands to this particular body of water to be washed of their sins.
The story goes that their gods were fighting a battle against demons, and during this battle, some of their blood sprinkled into the water, meaning that part of the so called gods blood represented eternal life.
So by going into this body of water on a certain day, they believe that they are cleansed of their sins and they will go to heaven.
This is what satan does with Jesus' sacrifice for us on the cross. He perverts the truth and makes it pleasing or believable to people, so that they believe his lies and will end up with him in hell.
The bible is very clear that the only way to heaven is through Jesus Christ.
John 14:6 Jesus said to him, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.
And as we read in todays verse, its Jesus' blood that cleanses us of our sins.
And as far as baptism, it's not the actual baptism that saves us, but it's a demonstration of our old man or ways being buried when we go under the water and coming out fresh and new in Jesus Christ.
1 Peter 3:21 There is also an antitype which now saves us--baptism (not the removal of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God), through the resurrection of Jesus Christ,
Eph 5:26 that He might sanctify and cleanse her with the washing of water by the word,
So be careful of what you hear and see, and make sure it can be backed up in the bible.
Also watch for satan twisting God's word into a lie to serve his purpose, which is to get people into hell with him.
God intends His word to testify of His Son Jesus, which is truth, love and salvation!
