2 Cor 11:3-4 (NLT)

3 But I fear that somehow you will be led away from your pure and simple devotion to Christ, just as Eve was deceived by the serpent. 4 You seem to believe whatever anyone tells you, even if they preach about a different Jesus than the one we preach, or a different Spirit than the one you received, or a different kind of gospel than the one you believed.


Let's talk about how to tell if something is counterfeit or not. In this case we will use a famous painting that everyone has heard about, The Mona Lisa.

We have all heard and seen pictures of the Mona Lisa, but have you ever seen the real Mona Lisa painting? If not then how can you tell if a painting is a fake or the real thing?

First off you have to see the real thing. Second you would have to study the painting. Each stroke needs to be studied. Each use of color, even knowing the pressure that was used on the paintbrush itself to create different textures.
Only then would you be able to tell a fake from the real thing.

Today there are many fakes in the world. Fake paintings, fake cars, and even fake food. But the worst of them all are the fake Jesus'. Yes there are counterfeit Jesus' in this world and false teaching about who the real Jesus is.
So many religions speak of a Jesus, but not the real Jesus of the bible.
So how do you know if what someone is telling you about Jesus is true?
Just like the example with the painting, you need to see the real thing and study Him.
"But how can I do that if He's in heaven?" you may be asking.
It's true we can't see Jesus physically, but you can see Him in the Bible.

  • John 5:39 "You search the Scriptures, for in them you think you have eternal life; and these are they which testify of Me.


    • Unless you search out Jesus through the true place, the bible, where there is no lying about Him, you will always believe in a false Jesus. The Jesus of false religions and teachings.

    Even with the studies and devotionals I teach on a weekly and daily basis, if you don't check out what I teach, then you may believe in a false Jesus. But I pray I will ALWAYS teach the true Jesus of the bible.

    So please check out my teaching and the teaching of others. After all, you shouldn't put your salvation in man's word, but God's word, which is the bible!
