5 Minutes a day / 5 Days a week

with God

1 Thess 5:9 (NLT)

For God decided to save us through our Lord Jesus Christ, not to pour out his anger on us.

One day as I was driving home from work, I saw the most beautiful rainbow I have ever seen in my life.
This was no ordinary rainbow that you usually see, far off in the distance, not really being able to see where it starts or stops.
No this rainbow was huge, I mean really huge, and so close. I could see the starting point of it sitting on the top of a small hill, and it seemed to be at least a quarter of a mile wide at the base with the colors so vibrant and clear.
The first thing I thought of when I saw it was God's promise to Noah and the world.

  • Gen 9:13 (NLT) I have placed my rainbow in the clouds. It is the sign of my permanent promise to you and to all the earth.

  • I could imagine Noah seeing this huge rainbow just like I saw with God making His promise to the world.
And then I remembered that God promised to hold back His anger on the world and not destroy it again with a flood.
God looks at the rainbow and remembers His promise to the world. God also looks at His Son, Jesus and remembers His promise that we are forgiven because of Jesus' death on the cross for us.
If you read the book of Revelation, it speaks of Jesus as beautiful. But not only beautiful, but also remaining scared from the beating and crucifixion.

So in heaven we will see a rainbow.

  • Rev 4:3 And He who sat there was like a jasper and a sardius stone in appearance; and there was a rainbow around the throne, in appearance like an emerald.

  • But we will also see what Jesus really went through on the cross for us.

  • Rev 5:6 And I looked, and behold, in the midst of the throne and of the four living creatures, and in the midst of the elders, stood a Lamb as though it had been slain, having seven horns and seven eyes, which are the seven Spirits of God sent out into all the earth.

  • And God also sees two beautiful things. The beauty of the rainbow and His promise. And the beauty of His scared Son and His love!
