2 Kings 1:5-6

5 And when the messengers returned to him, he said to them, "Why have you come back?" 6 So they said to him, "A man came up to meet us, and said to us, 'Go, return to the king who sent you, and say to him, "Thus says the LORD: 'Is it because there is no God in Israel that you are sending to inquire of Baal-Zebub, the god of Ekron? Therefore you shall not come down from the bed to which you have gone up, but you shall surely die.' "

A lot of people read their horoscope everyday, and some of them are Christians.
"What's the big deal?" you may be thinking.

As in today's verse Ahaziah was seeking a false god for an answers to his life or well being in the future. We see this in the preceding verses.

  • 2 Kings 1:2 2 Now Ahaziah fell through the lattice of his upper room in Samaria, and was injured; so he sent messengers and said to them, "Go, inquire of Baal-Zebub, the god of Ekron, whether I shall recover from this injury."

  • It's the same thing people do when they read their horoscope. They are seeking a false god for answers on how to live that day, and some use it to direct their lives.

If it's the future you are looking for, look to the bible for the correct source of the future. I would recommend reading the books of Isaiah, Daniel and Revelation, which all speak of not only past events, but future events that will happen.
And if you are looking for your future, here is a verse for all believers about our future.

  • 1 Cor 15:51-55 (NLT) 51 But let me tell you a wonderful secret God has revealed to us. Not all of us will die, but we will all be transformed. 52 It will happen in a moment, in the blinking of an eye, when the last trumpet is blown. For when the trumpet sounds, the Christians who have died will be raised with transformed bodies. And then we who are living will be transformed so that we will never die. 53 For our perishable earthly bodies must be transformed into heavenly bodies that will never die. 54 When this happens--when our perishable earthly bodies have been transformed into heavenly bodies that will never die--then at last the Scriptures will come true: "Death is swallowed up in victory. 55 O death, where is your victory? O death, where is your sting?"

  • Now that's a future I'm excited about, and one that I know will come true.
