with God

Eph 5:15-17

15 See then that you walk circumspectly, not as fools but as wise, 16 redeeming the time, because the days are evil. 17 Therefore do not be unwise, but understand what the will of the Lord is.

One night when I was watching the news, there was a report of a play the grade school kids were putting on. It was called "Goldilocks and the three bears" , which is innocent enough. But after the title they had "an other things". Which also sounds innocent enough.
But as they were talking about this family show, the "other things" mentioned in the tile where about, and I quote "A demon king" and "A demon wizard" .
Wow is all I could think of, but even worse is the child, who was around 10-12 years old, started talking about being the demon wizard, and how much he enjoyed being a demon and evil in the show.
Once again this was called a family show with the local news encouraging others to go see this harmless play (that was their words).

This all fits very well with verse 16 of today's devotional:

16 redeeming the time, because the days are evil.

This world has become so accustomed to the evil that's in the world, that it accepts the evil and even encourages other to enjoy it, saying that it is harmless.

But God warns about believing in these lies:

  • Romans 2:8-9 (NLT) 8 But he will pour out his anger and wrath on those who live for themselves, who refuse to obey the truth and practice evil deeds. 9 There will be trouble and calamity for everyone who keeps on sinning--for the Jew first and also for the Gentile.

  • Just because someone says it is harmless doesn't mean that it's true. Remember that satan told the same thing to Eve.

  • Gen 3:3-5 (NLT) 3 "It's only the fruit from the tree at the center of the garden that we are not allowed to eat. God says we must not eat it or even touch it, or we will die." 4 "You won't die!" the serpent hissed. 5 "God knows that your eyes will be opened when you eat it. You will become just like God, knowing everything, both good and evil."

  • "It's OK, it wont harm you, it's a family show, it's rated PG or G." they say.

Just because the world says it's OK doesn't mean it is.
Always check out what God's word say is OK, and not OK. If you do, then you will enjoy watching that play or movie because you checked it out by God's word, and found that it's OK. Instead of feeling uncomfortable because you know you don't belong there watching something you didn't check out first.
