2 Cor 8:7-8 (NLT)

7 Since you excel in so many ways--you have so much faith, such gifted speakers, such knowledge, such enthusiasm, and such love for us--now I want you to excel also in this gracious ministry of giving. 8 I am not saying you must do it, even though the other churches are eager to do it. This is one way to prove your love is real.

This world sees you as an accomplished person when you obtain financial status.
But here Paul is speaking to the church in Corinth about giving, and as Paul is speaking to the church in Corinth, he mentions their riches, which are not financial, but rather as we see in today's verse.

You have so much faith, such gifted speakers, such knowledge, such enthusiasm, and such love for us

So you may not have a lot financially, but that still doesn't mean you can't give.
Giving is more then money, in fact you may be shocked to hear, but God isn't poor.

  • Psalms 50:10 For every beast of the forest is Mine, And the cattle on a thousand hills.

  • Ex 24:10 and they saw the God of Israel. And there was under His feet as it were a paved work of sapphire stone, and it was like the very heavens in its clarity.

  • Rev 21:18 The construction of its wall was of jasper; and the city was pure gold, like clear glass.

  • God wants you to give from your heart, no matter how much, or what it is. He doesn't look at the amount you give, but rather your intent on giving.

So don't just give financially, but give your heart also.

  • 2 Cor 8:5 And not only as we had hoped, but they first gave themselves to the Lord, and then to us by the will of God.

  • First to God, then to others!
