with God
Luke 10:38-42
38 Now it happened as they went that He entered a certain village; and a certain woman named Martha welcomed Him into her house. 39 And she had a sister called Mary, who also sat at Jesus' feet and heard His word. 40 But Martha was distracted with much serving, and she approached Him and said, "Lord, do You not care that my sister has left me to serve alone? Therefore tell her to help me." 41 And Jesus answered and said to her, "Martha, Martha, you are worried and troubled about many things. 42 "But one thing is needed, and Mary has chosen that good part, which will not be taken away from her."
When you have a party or invite friends over for dinner, do you spend a lot of time seeing to their needs?
What if Jesus was one of your guests, would you still serve Him and others?
After all, it is Jesus and I am sure he would be hungry.
But Jesus is not really concerned with food for the body, but rather feeding the spiritual needs of the people.
We should too. Food for the body is fine, but what about feeding your spirit?
How much time do you spend preparing your dinner? Even when we go out to eat, we are there for about an hour. But what about how much time do we spend eating spiritual food?
Does your time in the bible represent McDonald's fast food, in and out in five minutes, with no real substance?
Or does it represent fine dining; relaxing and enjoying the word of God like fine steak and lobster?
Sometimes we get so busy doing for the Lord that we forget to stop and be ministered to by the Holy Spirit in God's word.
Tonight do something a little different.
Go home tonight, take a shower, put on your finest clothes like you were preparing to go out to a fine restaurant, and spend an hour or so in God's Words asking Him to feed you with the finest spiritual food. Enjoying it like you would enjoy a fine meal with someone you love, eating and spending time talking. Only this time you would be enjoying God's word, stopping between bites and just talking to Him.
Tonight, make a date with our bridegroom, Jesus Christ and enjoy a fine meal and conversation with Him!
