Psalms 9:3-10

3 When my enemies turn back,
They shall fall and perish at Your presence.
4 For You have maintained my right and my cause;
You sat on the throne judging in righteousness.
5 You have rebuked the nations,
You have destroyed the wicked;
You have blotted out their name forever and ever.
6 O enemy, destructions are finished forever!
And you have destroyed cities;
Even their memory has perished.
7 But the LORD shall endure forever;
He has prepared His throne for judgment.
8 He shall judge the world in righteousness,
And He shall administer judgment for the peoples in uprightness.
9 The LORD also will be a refuge for the oppressed,
A refuge in times of trouble.
10 And those who know Your name will put their trust in You;
For You, LORD, have not forsaken those who seek You.

Remember in school how there was always a bully who would pick on people?
Or even now at school or even in your work place there is someone who is just a bully who always picks on others.
We all remember them from when we were younger.
But you know what? I don't remember their names?
Verse 5 says, "You have blotted out their name forever and ever."
Even bully's who are in your school or at your work right now, in time, you won't remember their names.
It's funny how they try to make a name for themselves, but God has given you no memory of their names.
Maybe your bully right now is picking on you because you're a Christian.
Maybe you know their name right now. I could even be someone you don't even know.
What about the IRS, don't we consider them a bully?
What about a boss, who just downright treats his employees badly?
Maybe your spouse is being a bully to you or a coworker is.
I'm sure you can think of someone or something in your life that you would say, "Yea, that's my bully" .
Now think of that person, then think of verses 9 & 10.

9 The LORD also will be a refuge for the oppressed, A refuge in times of trouble.
10 And those who know Your name will put their trust in You; For You, LORD, have not forsaken those who seek You.

Now there is one other verse I want you to think about concerning this bully.

  • Luke 6:27-28 27 "But I say to you who hear: Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you,28 "bless those who curse you, and pray for those who spitefully use you.

  • This is now Jesus talking to all of us. And there always is a part of this verse that we forget. "Pray for those" .
    Pray for whom?
    Pray for your enemies. Ask God to bring them to your remembrance when you pray, not so you can curse them to God, but so you can pray for them
    Remember that Jesus died for the entire world, including that bully, and including you too!
