with God

1 Cor 10:1-5 (NLT)

1 I don't want you to forget, dear brothers and sisters, what happened to our ancestors in the wilderness long ago. God guided all of them by sending a cloud that moved along ahead of them, and he brought them all safely through the waters of the sea on dry ground. 2 As followers of Moses, they were all baptized in the cloud and the sea. 3 And all of them ate the same miraculous food, 4 and all of them drank the same miraculous water. For they all drank from the miraculous rock that traveled with them, and that rock was Christ. 5 Yet after all this, God was not pleased with most of them, and he destroyed them in the wilderness.

As a parent we don't want our kids to have to go through the same things we did, so we warn them of what could or even will happen if they continue on the path they are on.

We do the same with our friends, family and even or co-workers. We want to warn them of things we see them getting involved with that we know from experience to be harmful to them.

Sometimes people will accept it, and other times they will ignore it.

Just as Paul was telling the Corinthians about how the children of Israel all went through the Red Sea when God parted it, they all ate of the manna from God, and they all drank from the water that God brought forth from the rock.

God supplied all their needs, but still they rebelled in the wilderness and the results were that only two of the original people who left Egypt were allowed to enter the promise land.

So as Paul was warning the Corinthians, don't stop warning others of what they are headed for without Jesus.

As Paul put it, "God destroyed them."
But then the destruction will only come from themselves and their rejection of Jesus Christ!
