1 Cor 9:24-27 (NLT)

24 Remember that in a race everyone runs, but only one person gets the prize. You also must run in such a way that you will win. 25 All athletes practice strict self-control. They do it to win a prize that will fade away, but we do it for an eternal prize. 26 So I run straight to the goal with purpose in every step. I am not like a boxer who misses his punches. 27 I discipline my body like an athlete, training it to do what it should. Otherwise, I fear that after preaching to others I myself might be disqualified.

Thinking of the Olympics, we must look at what the bible says about competing.
We as Christians are all like those in the Olympics, running a race or competing for the prize.
We should run hard and strong, never giving into any obstacle that comes our way.

And like the athletes of the Olympics, we all need to prepare.
The athletes got there because they worked hard to get there, using self-control to stay away from junk food, which would only slow them down.
So must we also must stay away from the junk food that the world offers us, because it only slows down our pace with the Lord.

What is the junk food of the world?
TV, Magazines, Music, Movies, The latest fashions, etc.
Any of these things can be ok for you if used correctly or not in excess. But when they start taking control of us and draw us away from the Lord, then that's the time to get rid of them.

When we were children we all remember when our parents would tell us to eat our vegetables, or the rest of out dinner before we could have dessert.
It wasn't that they were trying to be mean, they just wanted us to be healthy.

So grab you bible and start eating the good food of the Lord before you pick up that remote or magazine.

Remember, you are in training for a race you are already running.
