5 Minutes a day / 5 Days a week
with God
2 Cor 5:17
Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.
"My parents were like that, so I am too" , Have you ever heard anyone say that, or maybe you have said it yourself.
But this is not a true statement according to today's verse.
Both my dad and mom were alcoholic's, but that doesn't mean that I am. I am a new creation in Christ Jesus, that old sin of alcoholism was nailed to the cross never to be mine.
I am thankful to the Lord for that. Because I have seen the hurt and pain alcohol causes in a family.
As a Christian I choose not to drink. Not out of fear of becoming an alcoholic, but it's no longer a way of life for me as a Christian. Those old ways of my parents have passed away.
I also thank God they are both now Christians, and my dad is with Jesus even now!
So many times we look at our past and fear what has happened or bring it into or present lives causing problems.
Today is the day to say, "that is the old man (or woman) I am a new creation in Jesus Christ."
Let those old things just pass away, and live your new life in Jesus Christ Who has taken all your past sins to the cross with Him.
The original wording for "new" means: recently made, fresh, recent, unused, unworn.
The meaning of "new" would be pure water from the start without any man to cleanse it.
Filtering water is taking something dirty and using man made means to cleanse it.
Jesus has not filled you with a man made secondary substance. No, He has filled you with His pure water, which are His word and the Holy Spirit.
So today say, "good-bye old man. I am new creation in Christ Jesus. And I won't miss you either!"
