with God

Isaiah 31:1

Woe to those who go down to Egypt for help,
And rely on horses,
Who trust in chariots because they are many,
And in horsemen because they are very strong,
But who do not look to the Holy One of Israel,
Nor seek the LORD!

Have you ever heard the term "fight fire with fire" ?
Sometimes Christians use this term for battling Satan.

We think that we need to use the world's things to get others to see Jesus. We use music, movies, Christian fiction novels, the way we dress and talk etc. thinking that if we are like the world then they will listen to us.

But Jesus was not like the world. He didn't conform to the world's religious leader's ways to get them to believe.
No, in fact He was what we would call a rebel, because He didn't follow the practices given by man, or the world. But He wasn't a rebel; He was only obedient to God!

I recently heard a popular Christian teacher say "Today we need more then just the bible to draw others to Jesus."
This is a very wrong and incorrect statement.

Jesus said:

  • John 14:6 Jesus said to him, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.

  • Also in the bible it says:

  • Deut 12:32 "Whatever I command you, be careful to observe it; you shall not add to it nor take away from it.

  • Psalms 18:30-31 30 As for God, His way is perfect; The word of the LORD is proven; He is a shield to all who trust in Him.31 For who is God, except the LORD? And who is a rock, except our God?

  • Psalms 119:140 Your word is very pure; Therefore Your servant loves it.

  • God's word is pure, if we try to add to it with the things of this world, then we are adding impurities to His word.

"So what do I do?" you may be asking.

Christian music, movies, and books are not bad. There is nothing wrong with them as long as they stick to the bible.
But don't rely on these things to bring others to Jesus. Rely on God's word.

Why not, it worked for Jesus.

  • John 5:19 (NLT) Jesus replied, "I assure you, the Son can do nothing by himself. He does only what he sees the Father doing. Whatever the Father does, the Son also does.
