with God

Isaiah 5:20-21

20 Woe to those who call evil good, and good evil; Who put darkness for light, and light for darkness; Who put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter! 21 Woe to those who are wise in their own eyes, And prudent in their own sight!

We as Christians should not be conformed to this world.
We need to remember God has said what is good, and what is not good for us.

Today is a total opposite of what God says is good and what is evil.
We see it everyday on TV, read it in headlines at the grocery store tabloids, it's in the movies and even in our work places and schools.

  • The world says that sex before marriage is good; in fact the world says it's better to have sex before marriage to make sure you are compatible with the person you are marrying.

  • The world say's that being drunk is OK as long as you don't drive.

  • The world says to think of number one, which is yourself.

  • The world says that god is in everything, and you can even be like god.

  • It says to do whatever you please as long as you don't hurt anyone.

  • All these things are the opposite of what God says is good.
But we as Christians start to accept these things as part of life.
"If you can't beat them, then join them" seems to be the Christian motto these days.
We even use scripture to condone our actions.

  • 1 Cor 9:22-23 22 to the weak I became as weak, that I might win the weak. I have become all things to all men, that I might by all means save some. 23 Now this I do for the gospel's sake, that I may be partaker of it with you.

  • This verse does not say that we are to sin or condone sin in order to win others to Christ.
With Jesus Christ being our example, He did not become a sinner to win others to God, but rather Jesus taught sinners the way to salvation.

What have you been condoning lately?
Do you even get mad at certain teachings, thinking that the person is to legalistic because they speak God's word, which is against sin?

I know this is kind of harsh, but it is intended out of love to wake us all up to the lies Satan is telling us.

God is saying in His word, through the prophet Isaiah in today's devotional, that we should not accept the things of this world as good, but rather listen to God's words, which are good.

We all love the Lord and we all try our best to do what is right.
But next time someone says you are to legalistic because you speak God's word, tell them to take it up with Him, because they are not your words but God's. We are just the vessels proclaiming His word.

    God says:

  • Isaiah 55:11 So shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth; It shall not return to Me void, But it shall accomplish what I please, And it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it.

  • Finally:

  • Romans 12:2 (NLT) Don't copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will know what God wants you to do, and you will know how good and pleasing and perfect his will really is.
